Hudson was rescued by B.O.N.E.S. from a bad situation in Limington, ME. After the gentleman called 911 (and subsequently passed away), the local ACO found 20 dogs living in squalid conditions.
B.O.N.E.S. took most of them and found them new homes. Overall, Hudson was in very good shape but when he had his physical, they found a serious mast cell tumor in his nose. As much as possible was removed.
B.O.N.E.S. wanted to find a wonderful home for Hudson and we did. John is a long-haul trucker that had lost his beagle companion of 13 years. He wanted a new companion. Luckily John found Hudson (or Hudson found John). It was a wonderful match. Hudson reported in regularly, and we share his "Chronicles" on this page.
Hello from Nebraska! It has been a while since the latest update, and another summer has flown by. At least that's what I keep hearing. I don't even know what a summer is. I think it's the time of year where my tongue spends most of the time hanging out of m mouth.
A while back, we picked up a load of snow guns at the ski area in North Carolina where we have loaded before. They went up to Massachusetts where we have delivered a lot of times too. John had booked a load nearby, going back to Maine, but it didn't load until the next day. We found a nice roadside picnic area next to a river that had plenty of shade. It was summertime, after all, and John is too cheap to go to a truck stop and run the A.C. all day. It was actually a great way to spend the day. People would stop and talk and say hi to me and I even got to meet a few other dogs. Later in the afternoon, a woman asked if John could help her put the wheel back on her bicycle. She had unloaded it from her car, and was riding up river to meet her daughter and then they were going to canoe down and pick up the car. John got his tools ant they were able to fix the bike, and off she went. Later on, they came paddling down the river and were having trouble getting to the LZ.
That's landing zone, in case you were wondering. I picked that up from a movie we watched. Anyway, he went out on some rocks to help then and while he was reaching for the canoe, they accidentally bumped into him and he went into the water. It was actually quite funny. He only went in up to his knees, and they felt terrible. He went back to the truck and got on his swim suit and they all went in swimming. They tried to get me in, but after my swim off the boat last summer, I wanted no part of it.
After a while John helped haul the canoe out and they loaded up and headed home. We packed up and headed to where we were going to load the next morning.
We loaded some metal pipe going up to central Maine and delivered the next morning and went home.
The next day, I was outside enjoying the sunshine while John was working on the truck. Alyssa came over from next door, with a bag and asked when my birthday was and John said that he didn't really know. Well, as it turned out, the bag was full of balloons, and it was my birthday. She and I had a party complete with balloons. I was really hoping for cake, but never got any. After the party, Alyssa helped John wash the truck. As you might have guessed, it turned into a water fight pretty quickly. I was thinking that they both got pretty wet, so nobody won. Alyssa was cold, so John got a blanket for her, and the next thing I saw, she was wrapped up and konked out. So I guess, John won that one, since he was still standing. Never one to miss an opportunity, I too, curled up and checked my eyelids for holes.
I really enjoy the lazy days at home either tied up outside in the sun, or inside on the recliner. It really doesn't matter.
That about does it for now. I'll save some stories for the next time.
Hudson, the semi-beagle
