Hudson, the Semi-Beagle Hudson was rescued by B.O.N.E.S. from a bad situation in Limington, ME. After the gentleman called 911 (and subsequently passed away), the local ACO found 20 dogs living in squalid conditions. B.O.N.E.S. took most of them and found them new homes. Overall, Hudson was in very good shape but when he had his physical, they found a serious mast cell tumor in his nose. As much as possible was removed. B.O.N.E.S. wanted to find a wonderful home for Hudson and we did. John is a long-haul trucker that had lost his beagle companion of 13 years. He wanted a new companion. Luckily John found Hudson (or Hudson found John). It was a wonderful match. Hudson reported in regularly, and we share his "Chronicles" on this page.

Hudson's Chronicles - October, 2013 Greetings from Tucumcari, NM.

John and I are headed out to Wilmington, CA with some crated machinery. It has been a busy week for us and we are enjoying a Sunday of rest...well, John is. I have been resting all week. I'm still recovering from the beagle bash last week.

It was fun to see all the familiar butts and meet some new ones. As usual, John kept telling me to stop barking and be quiet. I don't understand him. He spent the whole day saying hi and talking to people, but he doesn't want me doing it.

The weather was great, and there were lots of dogs and people there. I even did some of the activities that were going on. I was put in a pen that had several empty boxes inside. among them was one box with some chicken inside it. Well, not only did I find it right away, I didn't even need any help opening the box. I got the chicken all by myself.

Hudson's Chronicles - October, 2013Later on, I didn't do so well in "finding the treat". When it was my turn to see what hand held the dog treat, I was too busy sniffing the ground trying to find where the hot dogs were that I was smelling. When the clock stopped, I didn't even know there were treats to be found. Later, we found out that there was a hot dog eating contest there, and that was what I was smelling.

Towards the end of the bash, John decided it was time for my mani-pedi. I don't have a clue to what that is, but being a trooper, I went along with it. Lisa and Brittany were there doing nails and ear cleaning. As soon as I found out I put up a struggle. After all, I'm a guy, and I ride in a truck. I would be the laughing stock of the truck stops if they ever found out. After it was all said and done, I have to admit, it was nice. I could go for a little pampering now and then.

I have to admit, I was exhausted at the end. I don't know if it was the mani-pedi, or all the beagles and people, but I was pooped. I even had flies landing on me and I didn't even care!

Hudson's Chronicles - October, 2013After the bash, we went back to John's friends shop and then they all went out to a party and then dinner. The next day, John and Richard spent a good part of the day replacing a seal in the steering box. John had noticed the seal leaking Saturday morning while we were getting ready to go to the bash. Richard took his personal time Sunday morning to help John, since we both know John couldn't have done it himself. After that, we headed over to Shrewsbury where we visited with some of John's relatives. Monday, we headed to Plympton, MA where we delivered and then off to our next adventure.

That's all for now.

Hudson, the semi-beagle.
