B.O.N.E.S.' thirteenth annual Beagle Bash took place on Saturday, September 24th at the Collinwood K-9 Services in Auburn, MA. This year's theme was "Livin' the Beagle Life" and the beagles really did live the life at this event. The weather couldn't have been any better; the volunteers stepped right up to help; and most importantly, beagles, beagle wannabees, and their owners came out to join us in celebrating B.O.N.E.S. 13th year as a rescue organization.
We had some great demonstrations going on all day along with some special vendors:
- The folks at CMDRT (Central Massachusetts Disaster Recovery Team) told us all about the importance of being prepared in the case of a disaster as well as showing us the items needed in a recovery kit.
- B.O.N.E.S. Sensational Senior Beagle Director, Sherri Axcel, did a great job speaking to people about our SSB program. She shared important information and let everyone know that B.O.N.E.S. is dedicated to finding senior beagles families so they can live out their golden years in happy and loving homes.
- Let's not forget the relaxing massages the dogs got from the dog massage vendor, an intern from the Bancroft school in Worcester.
- We also had a great pet photographer, Sea-Jay Creations who took pictures of everyone's dogs. There should be some great holiday cards this year with those pictures.
- Robin Brousseau's creative, handmade doggie items were a big hit among attendees.
- Crimson Rose's beagle greeting cards were beautiful as usual!
- Trisky Triskuts from Nashua, NH, sold all but five bags of their wonderful, tasty, homemade treats.
The 2017 B.O.N.E.S. Calendar made its debut at the Bash. Lots of people took advantage of buying it at the event and avoided postage charges. We had other great vendors and sold lots of B.O.N.E.S. merchandise too. We hope you took the time to stop, visit, and buy things.
Pizza, soda, and snacks fed everyone and many took advantage of the Beagle Cafe! Tables, and chairs were set up for people to sit down, eat lunch, and talk to other beagle owners. Thank you to Jack Courtney, Curtis Brothers and Lou Aponte for all of your time. You made sure everyone got fed and really enjoyed themselves.
As always, doggy games were a big hit. Many beagles participated this year and a lot of dogs went home with some great prizes. Thank you to Sandi Church and Glenda Templet for their amazing job running the games.
The raffle baskets and silent auction items were beautiful. A lot of raffle tickets were in each box when it came time to pick the winners. Thank you to everyone who donated this year. We know the winners were very happy!
We'd like to thank the 2016 Bash Committee for all their hard work. Robin Brousseau had a successful year as chairperson. She could not have done this without the amazing help from her committee. Robin wants to thank Elle Siniscalchi, Cathy Fitzgerald, Glenda Templet, Sandi Church and Sharon Vartanian for all their hard work to make this day such a success.
The committee also wants to thank Mary Clare Springer and Charlie Ross for all of their IT and Constant Contact expertise and website management!
We would like to give a big thank you to all the members of the Board of Directors. Thank you for your support and helping out where ever we needed it throughout the day.
Last but not least - the Committee wants to thank all of the volunteers who helped set up for the day, worked their shifts then stayed on if help was still needed, and stayed to clean up. The Committee wants to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you did. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
